About

This site was created to help web developers and web site owners evaluate CAPTCHA packages for their web sites.

The idea came to us here at Wall-Soft when we had trouble finding a good CAPTCHA solution for one of the sites we were working on. For this specific site, we wanted a package which is in PHP, and freely available. We found quite a few open source CAPTCHA packages which seemed interesting, but it was really a pain to install and evaluate each and every one. The worst thing: when we finally chose one and put it up on the site, it turned out that the CAPTCHA we chose was very good at screening out computer programs, but it was also very difficult for real live human beings to identify the letters that it displayed.

We thought it would be a good idea to create a web site that allows site owners and web developers to try out CAPTCHA packages before they actually invest time to install them on the site, and the result is trycaptcha.com.

An interesting side note about this site: it was developed by a joint team of Israeli and Palestinian developers, working together over the Internet. In fact, most of the credit for the site is due to two young Palestinian developers: Ghadeer Suidan and Ghadeer Shakhsheer. As a team of Palestinians and Israelis we hope to demonstrate that cooperation is possible, and that when we join forces instead of fighting each other, we can accomplish great things.
